EventForce is a provider of temporary labor to events and conferences using trained young adults from numerous leadership programs in Australia, Canada, United States and Europe.

EventForce was formed to meet two needs. The temporary staffing industry was requiring laborers with a higher ethical and moral standard who could not only serve at an event but represent the intended quality of the event sponsor. On the other hand, leadership programs around the country were attempting to raise the level of their fundraising in order to supplement their program expenses and provide opportunities for more young adults. EventForce became the bridge that connected both these needs.

EventForce began working with three young adult leadership programs in July of 1999 and staffed five events that year. Since then, EventForce has helped fund over 80 different programs and provides staffing to over 90 events annually. EventForce works with logistics planners from major corporations, event planning companies, registration companies, and those organizations that supply everything from transportation to technical services at any size event or any activity leading up to, during or following an event. Clients served across the country are numerous. Corporate clients in Microsoft, George P. Johnson, J. Spargo & Associates, Experient and many Associations.

Laurie Mitchell is the Founder of EventForce and has over 30 years in the industry, starting with a company serving the private social marketplace, branching out to corporate events in 1992. She was the Managing Director of EventForce, Inc., but effective January 1, 2012, has appointed Jeff Mitchell to be the new Managing Director.”

Throughout the ages, there have been many stories told and many analogies crafted around the strength, character and presence of the male African lion. But this is not one of them. It is, however, a story of encouragement and perseverance that directly relates to EventForce and students in these programs. For you see, the lion that EventForce has adopted was first drawn by the grandfather of one of the founders of EventForce. During 1900-1901, Alex was forced to winter through one of the heaviest snows in a century in Victoria, B.C. Canada. Victoria was a trading center at the time as it was situated in a convenient waterway. It had prospered from the Alaskan Gold Rush and Alex’s father was an assayer at the bank. His family was composed of 13 children and their mother.

We all know that in a family, talents and skills are seemingly given in random fashion to different members. Alex received the gifts of detail and a steady hand. And in that winter he produced dozens of drawings, including the Lion. But, back then, gifts did not always correlate to the ability to earn a livelihood. And, as the story goes, he was strongly discouraged – rebuked even – from pursuing a career in his gifting. Soon thereafter he drew no more, took up the machinist trade, and began an unsatisfied and bitter existence. His drawings were kept in the attic or distributed to family members as requested.

But the story does not end there! As with most talents and gifts that have a legacy, so did the Lion. The picture came into our possession as a gift from Alex’s daughter, who was one casualty along his way. It hung on our wall for years, taking no prominent place but acting as a topic of conversation, until EventForce.

The purpose of EventForce is to provide the opportunity for funding for programs that take the talent and gifts God has put in each student, and to develop that talent honorably and nobly. Each student who wears an EventForce shirt is a reminder that each one possesses the potential of service through their gifting. So the talent that was first displayed in the winter of 1900, repressed and hidden for a century has become the symbol of an endeavor that allows the gifts and talents of another generation to be trained and cultured.
